Baseball Recap: Notre Dame's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Notre Dame dropped their record down to 10-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 10-1 to the Lawrence Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 on Thursday.

As for Lawrence, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Lawrence's part, Deacon Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Moore has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Josh Vichroski was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Aiden Crowley was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Coincidentally, Notre Dame and Lawrence will both be playing Lawrenceville School the next time they take the field. The Irish will host the Big Red at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
