Baseball Recap: Marion Giants vs. Maconaquah Braves

Marion extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maconaquah Braves. If the Giants were looking for revenge after losing 8-5 to the Braves when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Marion saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taeshawn Inman, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that Inman has hit this season.

As for Maconaquah, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Maconaquah's side, Caiden Richards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Devon Murry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kobe Bowman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Marion is taking a road trip to take on Elwood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Maconaquah, they will welcome Eastern at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
