Basketball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cardinal Gibbons can now relate to. They took a 71-52 bruising from the Pine Crest Panthers on Friday. The Chiefs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Pine Crest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Sangha, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 12 boards. Maci Nitowski was another key player, going 7 of 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points.

Cardinal Gibbons' loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Pine Crest, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cardinal Gibbons will challenge Monsignor Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pine Crest, they will square off against NSU University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
