Volleyball Recap: Newton South Comes Up Short

After flying high against Acton-Boxborough on Thursday, Newton South came back down to earth. The Lions lost 3-0 to the Franklin Panthers on Friday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

While Newton South was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-14, 25-23.

Among those leading the charge was Olivia Caruso, who had seven assists and four digs. Abby Clark also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Newton South's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Franklin, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton South will face off against Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklin, they will take on Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
