Softball Recap: Hico Takes a Loss

If Hico was riding high fresh off their 20-6 takedown of Huckabay last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hico lost 24-8 to the Italy Gladiators on Friday.

Kelli McKee was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Victoria Zuniga, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Hico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hico's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Italy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4.

Hico has already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Frost on the 18th. As for Italy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 win against Meridian on the 18th.
