Basketball Game Preview: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Vista Ridge Wolves

Fountain-Fort Carson is on a five-game streak of home losses, Vista Ridge a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Monday. The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will welcome the Vista Ridge Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Fountain-Fort Carson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to Pueblo West. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Cyclones are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Vista Ridge played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-43 loss at the hands of Doherty. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fountain-Fort Carson will need focus on slowing down Quentin Maldonado, one of several Vista Ridge players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Matthias Johnson, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points.

Fountain-Fort Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Vista Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Things could have been worse for Fountain-Fort Carson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-27 loss to Vista Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Fountain-Fort Carson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
