Football Game Preview: Heritage Huskies vs. Vance County Vipers + How To Watch

The Heritage Huskies will head out to challenge the Vance County Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage will be strutting in after a win while Vance County will be coming in after a loss.

Heritage took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklinton, sneaking past 23-20. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Huskies as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Williams, who threw for 164 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in passer rating (128). Jaylen Stokes did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 102 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Heritage proved: they limited Franklinton to a paltry 1.8 yards per carry. The Huskies' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.4.

Heritage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Simon Sefton, Derek Cooley, and Bryen McKoy picked up one apiece. Cooley is becoming a predictor of Heritage's success: when he posts at least one interception the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Vance County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 43-0 loss at the hands of Knightdale.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Vance County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
