Fort Calhoun triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Grayson Bouwman

Recap: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Arlington Eagles

The Fort Calhoun Pioneers won the last time they faced the Arlington Eagles, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Fort Calhoun came out on top against Arlington by a score of 55-42. Given Fort Calhoun's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Arlington is ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grayson Bouwman was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adam Elofson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Despite the loss, Arlington had strong showings from Trent Koger, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Kieryn Grothe, who scored 16 points. Grothe continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Fort Calhoun has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Conestoga at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Conestoga's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Arlington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Calhoun at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
