Softball Recap: Madison County Comes Up Short

Madison County and Alexandria squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Madison County had to settle for second. They fell 12-7 to the Valley Cubs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Savannah Cantrell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Allison Yeary, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

This is the second loss in a row for Madison County and nudges their season record down to 32-13. As for Alexandria, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 40-10-3 record this season.

Madison County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alexandria, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Albertville on July 1, 2026.
