Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Southmoore

The Piedmont Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Southmoore SaberCats at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Piedmont took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Putnam City North, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Piedmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Putnam City North on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Piedmont.

Meanwhile, Southmoore hadn't done well against Deer Creek recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Southmoore had just enough and edged out Deer Creek 5-4. The high-scoring effort was just what Southmoore needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Southmoore, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Piedmont couldn't quite get it done against Southmoore in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can Piedmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
