Basketball Game Preview: Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan vs. St. Francis Spartans

The Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Francis Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chicago Mt. Carmel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Chicago Mt. Carmel is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Oak Lawn on Sunday as Chicago Mt. Carmel made off with an 84-60 win. The Caravan have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Cameron Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Grant Best, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Chicago Mt. Carmel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, St. Francis didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Marmion on Friday, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory.

Chicago Mt. Carmel's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for St. Francis, they have also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season.

Chicago Mt. Carmel came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Francis in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 58-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chicago Mt. Carmel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
