Preview: Marian Catholic vs. Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES
Marian Catholic has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Marian Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Marian Catholic pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Panther Valley. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Marian Catholic came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Panther Valley is ranked 342nd).
The losing side was boosted by Julius Currie, who scored 29 points along with seven assists. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jesse Rodino, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Mount Carmel was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 50-45 to Eastern York. It was the first time this season that Mount Carmel let down their fans at home.
Marian Catholic's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2. As for Mount Carmel, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Marian Catholic strolled past Mount Carmel in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 61-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marian Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
