Soccer Game Preview: Wylie East vs. Garland

The Wylie East Raiders will take on the Garland Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wylie East's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, neither Wylie East nor Rowlett could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Garland's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Lakeview Centennial out 2-1. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Patriots are ranked 709th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Garland is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5-2 record this season. Wylie East's draw gives them a new season record of 5-3-2.

Wylie East beat Garland 3-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Wylie East repeat their success, or does Garland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
