Recap: Leake County Gators vs. Taylorsville Tartars
The Leake County Gators entered their tilt with the Taylorsville Tartars with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Leake County strolled past Taylorsville with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 73-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Leake County also won the last time the pair played last Thursday.
Leake County found their leader in underclassman Treylon Ricks, who scored 31 points along with four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ricks has scored at least a third of Leake County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tay Fortune, who scored 18 points.
Leake County pushed their record up to 16-13 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Taylorsville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leake County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on West Bolivar at 4:00 p.m. on February 13th. Taylorsville will take on Simmons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Simmons has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
