Softball Recap: Beardstown Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Beardstown took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pittsfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Saukees a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Tigers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Not much got past Khloe Kearns, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Pittsfield off the board. Kearns has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Beardstown's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Bowman, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Beardstown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsfield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beardstown will take on Camp Point Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pittsfield, they will challenge Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
