Basketball Recap: Flour Bluff Picks Up Tenth Straight Win on the Road

Flour Bluff had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 58-46 victory over the West Oso Bears. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Bears are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, West Oso had strong showings from Alivia Shaw, who posted 12 points, and Jae'La Hicks, who earned 13 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Shaw has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Milauni Williams, who had seven points.

Flour Bluff pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for West Oso, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-5.

Flour Bluff will host Gregory-Portland at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday. As for West Oso, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-12 victory against Zapata on the 28th.
