Acalanes has won five straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Campolindo has won five straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Dons will host the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Acalanes 13.1, Campolindo 11.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
Acalanes gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Miramonte by a score of 21-10. The 21-point effort marked the Dons' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Acalanes can attribute much of their success to Josh Elerts, who rushed for 161 yards, and Tyler Winkles, who threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Acalanes proved: they limited Miramonte to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least seven total tackles, Deonte Littlejohn stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles. Acalanes didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.
Meanwhile, Campolindo beat Monte Vista 28-21 on Friday.
Campolindo's win came from a few key players Acalanes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Reid Habas, who threw for 228 yards and three TDs. Campolindo's leading receiver Everett Zellmer was Habas' top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and one score.
Acalanes' win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Campolindo, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Elerts and Micah Parker. Elerts just won't slow down this season and has averaged 113.3 rushing yards per game. Parker has been a dominant force too and has averaged 82.4 rushing yards per game.
Acalanes came out on top in a nail-biter against Campolindo when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 20-17. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
