Baseball Recap: Delaware County Christian Takes a Loss

The matchup between Delaware County Christian and Westtown on Friday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Knights took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westtown. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to Westtown from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Matteo DeBellis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Lyren, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Delaware County Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Westtown, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Coincidentally, Delaware County Christian and Westtown will both be playing Collegium Charter the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Cougar at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while Westtown will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
