Softball Game Preview: Berean Christian Eagles vs. Concord Bears

For the first time this season, Berean Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After both having extra time off, they and the Concord Bears will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Berean Christian's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Concord has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Berean Christian was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene last Tuesday. They skirted past Piedmont 3-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Audrey Longtin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Olivia Kundysek was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Concord came up short against Novato last Thursday, falling 15-3.

Emmalee Usedom made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Oriana Castro also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Berean Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Berean Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Concord when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
