If the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks were feeling good off their 42-22 takedown of the New Covenant Gryphons last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Miller School of Albemarle suffered a tough 55-33 defeat at the hands of Winston-Salem Christian on Sunday. While losing is never fun, Miller School of Albemarle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 234th in Virginia, while Winston-Salem Christian is ranked 85th in North Carolina).

Despite the defeat, Miller School of Albemarle had strong showings from Ella Jackson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Anna Smith, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kira Miller, who scored five points.
