Basketball Recap: Eastern Beats Spencer County for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Eastern came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Spencer County Bears by a score of 65-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2019.

Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rakale Johnson, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Brock, who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Spencer County, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will challenge Jeffersontown at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastern knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Jeffersontown likes a good challenge. As for Spencer County, they will face off against Walton-Verona at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
