Recap: West Laurens Raiders vs. Dublin Fighting Irish
The West Laurens Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 73-53 loss at the hands of Dublin. West Laurens has struggled against Dublin recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
West Laurens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nasire Jones, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jones scored a full 35.8% of West Laurens' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Omarion Coverson, who scored 12 points.
Dublin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Philyaw led the charge by scoring 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevontae Stanley, who scored 12 points.
West Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Dublin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
West Laurens will be playing in front of their home fans against Howard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dublin, they will head out on the road to face off against Toombs County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Toombs County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
