Recap: Cross Trojans vs. Military Magnet Academy Eagles
After a string of four wins, the Cross Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were outmatched by Military Magnet Academy at home and fell 93-37. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cross in their matchups with Military Magnet Academy: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Cross lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lauren Middleton. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points. Middleton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Cross struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Military Magnet Academy racked up 17 assists.
Dream Watson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds for Military Magnet Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. DaNariyah Williams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Cross' loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3. As for Military Magnet Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6.
Cross' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lowcountry Leadership at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Lowcountry Leadership is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Military Magnet Academy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Charleston Math & Science at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Charleston Math & Science will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Military Magnet Academy is ranked 32nd).
