Another reason for the win was Eastern Wayne's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Zion Evans, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Southwestern Randolph had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 32-13.
