Softball Game Preview: Chireno Owls vs. Shelbyville Dragons

The Chireno Owls will challenge the Shelbyville Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chireno has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chireno's last matchup with Timpson could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Wednesday. The Owls lost 19-3 to the Bears. The Owls just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, while Shelbyville put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Garrison. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Jones was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Shelbyville got a massive performance out of Carsey Lovell, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lanie Bass, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Shelbyville pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Chireno, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
