Softball Game Preview: Cahokia Comanches vs. Gibault Catholic Hawks

Cahokia is on a ten-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Gibault Catholic a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Cahokia Comanches will be playing at home against the Gibault Catholic Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Cahokia has given up an average of 17.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cahokia fell victim to Metro-East Lutheran and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, Gibault Catholic can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past East St. Louis 16-1.

Hope Chambers made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Lanham, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Bollman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gibault Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cahokia's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Gibault Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
