 South Bend St. Joseph fell victim to Elkhart and their airtight pitching crew  on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Elkhart Lions by a score of  1-0. Having soared to a lofty 11  runs in the game before, South Bend St. Joseph's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
 Elkhart's batters probably weren't too happy with  Berkley Zache, who pitched a no hitter  and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up  a single walk). Zache has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than 11  strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances.
 Even though they lost, South Bend St. Joseph  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 12  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhart only tossed four.
 On Elkhart's side,  not much got past  Laci Stimac, who gave up just  four  hits to keep South Bend St. Joseph off the board.
 South Bend St. Joseph's loss  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 18-5. As for Elkhart, the  victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
 South Bend St. Joseph will face off against Plymouth at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Elkhart, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Concord at 5:00  p.m. The timing is sure in Elkhart's favor as the  squad sits on three straight wins at home while Concord has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
