Softball Game Preview: Beaufort Eagles vs. Woodland Wolverines

Beaufort is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Woodland is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Beaufort is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Beaufort came up short against Colleton County and fell 9-5.

Adalyn Johnson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 13 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caylin Adkins, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Woodland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Barnwell on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warhorses. The Wolverines have struggled against the Warhorses recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Dallas LaChance was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Josie Mitchum, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Woodland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Beaufort, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
