Sullivan is 2-8 against Tuscola since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Sullivan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Okaw Valley on Thursday. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Natalie Stinson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Sullivan let Taylar Mercer and Karson Robinson run wild. Mercer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Robinson went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Robinson has posted since back in March. Maddy Anderson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Tuscola got themselves on the board against Shelbyville on Wednesday, but Shelbyville never followed suit. They blew past the Rams 7-0. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Kinzie Cleland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Ava Boyer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Alaina Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Tuscola's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Sullivan, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.
Sullivan couldn't quite finish off Tuscola in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
