Football Game Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Greenville Patriots

The Columbus Blue Devils will face off against the Greenville Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbus, who comes in off a win.

Columbus took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Shaw a 17-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Greenville fell victim to Mt. Zion and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 24-0. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Columbus' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.4 points on average this season. As for Greenville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Columbus came up short against Greenville when the teams last played back in August of 2024, falling 22-16. Thankfully for the Blue Devils, Antavious Richardson (who rushed for 100 yards and one score on only ten carries, and also threw for 47 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
