Softball Recap: Niskayuna Takes a Loss

Niskayuna had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Shaker Bison, falling 16-2. If the Silver Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 7-4 to the Bison when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Niskayuna saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Giangiordano, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Shaker, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

On Shaker's side, they got a massive performance out of Ruby Szemplinski, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Abagael Taylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Niskayuna will square off against rival Averill Park at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Shaker is set to face off against their familiar foe Columbia at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bison 4, the Blue Devils 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
