Softball Recap: Hillcrest Beats J.L. Mann for Their Third Straight Win

Hillcrest owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. Everything went their way against the J.L. Mann Patriots as they made off with a 9-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Suzanna Duwel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Skyla Benton and Maria Sialmas did most of the damage at the plate: Benton went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Sialmas got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Sialmas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Cross, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Hillcrest now has a winning record of 11-10. As for J.L. Mann, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest will venture away from home to challenge Easley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for J.L. Mann, they will welcome T.L. Hanna at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
