Basketball Recap: Benton Central Triumphs

Benton Central hadn't done well against Lafayette Central Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Benton Central Bison came out on top against the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights by a score of 57-44. This was a revenge game for the Bison: when they faced off against the Knights back in December of 2024, they had to take a 54-50 loss.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mikey Stapleton, who posted 16 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Bobby Metzger, who had ten points.

Benton Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Benton Central will face off against Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Harrison will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Benton Central surely won't give up without a fight. Lafayette Central Catholic has already played their next match (against Faith Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
