Harbor Creek has gone 9-1 against Warren recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. In Monday's Canine Competition, Harbor Creek prevailed. They put the hurt on Meadville with a sharp 11-0 victory on Monday. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.
Heath Betza was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Vaughn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Levi Russell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Harbor Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Warren couldn't beat Fort LeBoeuf on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Dragons lost 17-7 to the Bison. That's two games in a row now that the Dragons have lost by exactly ten runs.
Elijah Snyder was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Colin Zdarko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Harbor Creek's record now sits at 11-7. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.
Everything went Harbor Creek's way against Warren when the teams last played back in April, as Harbor Creek made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
