Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Central Takes a Loss

St. Joseph Central lost against Tug Valley back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Joseph Central Irish took a blow against the Tug Valley Panthers, falling 57-27. The matchup marked the Irish's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph Central lost, don't look at Ava Gallion. Despite the final result, she posted ten points.

Tug Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailee Hall led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 19 boards. Hall is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Browning, who scored 15 points and five steals.

St. Joseph Central's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Tug Valley, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph Central will face off against Gilmer County at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilmer County will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something St. Joseph Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tug Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-39 win against Mingo Central on the 5th.
