Baseball Recap: Silsbee Wins Going Away Against Jasper

Silsbee won the last time they faced Jasper and things went their way on Saturday too. Silsbee was the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over Jasper. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Brendon Hughes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Peyton Grisham looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February.

Back at the plate, Mikey Moshier was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. J Miller was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Silsbee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Silsbee has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Jasper is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Silsbee Tigers take on Bridge City Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jasper, they will be playing at home against Onalaska at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
