Football Recap: Kaden Diggs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairfield Central over Newberry

Fairfield Central was the 49-42 winner over Newberry when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Griffins took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday. The Griffins' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Fairfield Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Diggs, who rushed for 93 yards, and also threw for 85 yards and one touchdown. Ty'Quarius Shannon also helped out with an impressive 112 receiving yards.

Fairfield Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Newberry, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Fairfield Central will face off against Andrew Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newberry, they will square off against Saluda at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
