Baseball Recap: Bethel's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Bethel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Hampton Crabbers 9-2 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bruins as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ryder Zeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Zeman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Bethel is undefeated when Zeman posts three or more RBI, but 6-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Zahir Williams was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Lamb, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Bethel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton only posted an OBP of .387.

The victory got Bethel back to even at 10-10. As for Hampton, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 19-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Bethel is set to challenge their familiar foe Denbigh at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hampton will square off against rival Warwick at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crabbers 3.1, the Raiders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
