Softball Recap: Frontier Takes a Loss

Frontier fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Highland on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Scots by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this contest were averaging 3.45 runs allowed.

Taylor Sloss spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Natalia Duran and Charley Hawkins stepped up to the plate in a big way. Duran went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Hawkins went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Adalynn Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Frontier's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-2 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Frontier beat Highland by a score of 9-1 on Friday.
