Basketball Game Preview: Portsmouth Patriots vs. Mt. Pleasant Kilties

The Portsmouth Patriots will take on the Mt. Pleasant Kilties on Wednesday. Mt. Pleasant took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Portsmouth, who comes in off a win.

Portsmouth is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Westerly, who was ranked 21st at the time (Portsmouth was ranked sixth). Portsmouth strolled past Westerly with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 83-67. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant came up short against La Salle Academy on Monday and fell 68-55. The loss continues a trend for the Kilties in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.

Portsmouth's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Everything came up roses for Portsmouth against Mt. Pleasant in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 107-19 victory. Does Portsmouth have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Pleasant turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
