Soccer Game Preview: Texas vs. Marshall

Texas and Marshall are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but likely not for long. The Texas Tigers will square off against the Marshall Mavericks at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Texas' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Texas is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mt. Pleasant on Friday. Texas fell just short of Mt. Pleasant by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Hallsville, falling 5-1.

Texas' loss dropped their record down to 0-3-2. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Texas beat Marshall 3-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Texas since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
