Basketball Game Preview: King's Fork Bulldogs vs. Western Branch Bruins

The King's Fork Bulldogs will face off against the Western Branch Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

King's Fork is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Deep Creek just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 70-44 to the Hornets. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Hornets are ranked 44th).

Meanwhile, Western Branch entered their tilt with Lakeland back in December of 2024 with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took their game with ease, bagging a 67-28 win over the Cavaliers. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 38 points or more this season.

Western Branch pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for King's Fork, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2.

Everything came up roses for King's Fork against Western Branch in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-29 win. Does King's Fork have another victory up their sleeve, or will Western Branch turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
