The Lucas Cubs will take on the Crestline Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Lucas' victory against Central Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cubs skirted past the Comets 11-9. The win continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won five in a row.
Maddie Boyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Charlize Stinehour was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Emma Brown was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Crestline entered their tilt with Mansfield Senior on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Tygers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The game marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.
LaVanna Sanders and Kylie Kelly did most of the damage at the plate: Sanders went 2-for-3 with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Kelly went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenidy Bedson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Crestline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Crestline's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Lucas, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lucas has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crestline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lucas took their victory against Crestline in their previous meeting on April 9th by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
