Volleyball Recap: Hammond Comes Up Short

Hammond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Guilford Park Panther, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Bears of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-9, 25-17.

Leading Guilford Park to victory were Hana Yoshimura and Chikanele Onukwugha. Yoshimura had five digs and four aces, while Onukwugha hit 88.9% for 16 kills and five digs, five aces, and one block. Onukwugha has been hot for a while, having posted seven or more kills the last 11 times she's played.

Hammond's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Guilford Park, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coincidentally, Hammond and Guilford Park will both be playing Howard the next time they take the court. The Panther will host the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Golden Bears will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
