Baseball Recap: Logan Flaherty Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cypress Lake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Island Coast, Port Charlotte was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cypress Lake Panthers a 3-0 shutout. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Reed Backstrom made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Backstrom wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Flaherty, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Port Charlotte's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Cypress Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Charlotte will take on Imagine School at North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cypress Lake, they will face off against Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
