Recap: Carrizo Springs Wildcats vs. Devine Warhorses
The Carrizo Springs Wildcats have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Devine on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Carrizo Springs of the 57-30 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Carrizo Springs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ysella Hinojosa, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Hinojosa is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. Adisyn Reyes was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Carrizo Springs has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-11 record this season. As for Devine, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-8.
Carrizo Springs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Somerset at 7:30 p.m. As for Devine, they will head out on the road to challenge Pleasanton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasanton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 863rd, while Devine is ranked 386th).
