Basketball Recap: Wright City Comes Up Short

Wright City fought the good fight in their overtime match against Valliant on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 73-65 to the Valliant Bulldogs. The Lumberjax were up 39-25 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Defeat or not, Wright City got some senior leadership from Rayner Beene and Kase Lindly. Beene went 7-for-16 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and six assists, while Lindly went 6-for-12 on his way to 16 points and five assists. Beene continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kayden Cummings was another key player, putting up six points.

This is the second loss in a row for Wright City and nudges their season record down to 20-5. As for Valliant, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

Wright City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-49 victory against Haworth on the 15th. As for Valliant, they have also already played their next contest, a 42-38 loss against Broken Bow on the 13th.
