Softball Recap: Leipsic Comes Up Short

Leipsic extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They came up short against the North Baltimore Tigers, falling 15-4. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in May of 2022.

As for North Baltimore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.

For North Baltimore's part, the team relied heavily on Layla Delancy, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Delancy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Trout, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Leipsic will square off against Kalida at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Baltimore, they will face off against Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Gophers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
