Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Terra Linda

Terra Linda never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over the San Domenico Panthers. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

Katie Malas and Eleanor Johnson were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Malas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Johnson struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Malas scored a run and stole a base, while Johnson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That run marked the first that Malas scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Law, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Alexa Corsiglia also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for San Domenico, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Terra Linda will face off against University at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Terra Linda is facing University at the right time seeing as University is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for San Domenico, they will take on Redwood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
