Football Recap: Don Bosco Prep Takes Down Seton Hall Prep in a Playoff Battle

Don Bosco Prep had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 42-7 victory over the Seton Hall Prep Pirates. Considering the Ironmen have won six matchups by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Don Bosco Prep found their leader in sophomore Carson Schoen, who threw for 186 yards and a pair of TDs. Zakai Murphy was Schoen's top target, picking up 98 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Don Bosco Prep, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isaiah Alvarez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Don Bosco Prep's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Matt Occhipinti refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

The win keeps Don Bosco Prep at an undefeated 10-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 29.9 points this season. As for Seton Hall Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Don Bosco Prep will square off against Bergen Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ironmen will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests. Seton Hall Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
